Terms and Conditions

Payment Terms for Online Students

Students will only be granted access to the online content once the payment due is received.

Where a student is on a payment plan, failure to make payments in the agreed timeframe will result in the student’s access to the course being withdrawn and, if the full fee is not received, all course fees paid up to that point will be non-transferable and non-refundable. A student will not receive additional time in lieu of any time lost while their course access was suspended due to lack of payment. No project submissions will be accepted while a student’s access to the course is suspended. Where a student does not meet their project deadlines or has to resubmit a failed project, additional assessment fees will be incurred.  The late submission fee is €150 and the resubmission fee is €50. Results may be withheld where there are outstanding fees due.

Different terms apply when students avail of a third party finance option, and the aforementioned terms can be referred to in the student’s individual contract with Code Institute. Gutschein funded students, must stay on track and will not be granted late submissions.

Refunds will only be granted in extenuating circumstances such as medical incapacity or bereavement, at the sole discretion of the Finance Manager. Extenuating circumstances refer to unforeseen events which may affect a student’s ability to complete the course. Such circumstances include serious illness &/or hospitalisation, accident, immediate family bereavement or other serious personal circumstances.
Foreseen events such as sporting, cultural or work commitments are not considered extenuating circumstances. Supporting documentation e.g. medical certificate, police statement etc. must be provided. In such circumstances, a deferral may be offered as an alternative. The amount refunded will be in proportion to how far the student has progressed through the course.

Leave of Absence

Students who need to take a break from their course may do so in extreme circumstances for a maximum period of 3 months initially. A leave of absence will not change any payment agreements between the student and Code Institute, a partner or any third party finance options, where applicable.

Students who are enrolled on a course with a choice of specialization will be informed of the date by which they must have made their choice (approximately at the mid-point of their course). Once the student has been enrolled in their chosen specialization, there will be a one week “change of mind” window should a student wish to reconsider their choice. Only one change will be accepted within this window. After this, there will be no further changes permitted. No additional time will be granted to a student who decides to change specialization during this window and their end date will be unchanged. Where a student does not make their choice by the required deadline, they will be automatically enrolled in a specialization by Code Institute and the change of mind window will not apply.

Code Institute reserves the right to refuse tuition fees and reserves the right to deny any applications.
