Python in the Nordics

Nordic countries are among the most digitalised in the world. Everyone has multiple electronic devices, and most companies use advanced technology. This has led to an increased demand for software developers across Nordic countries – in all industries. Most of these companies use Python as their back-end programming language. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you should learn Python in the Nordics.

Popularity of Python in the Nordics

Doing a quick Google search on Python and Nordic companies clarifies that most of the biggest companies out there use Python for their business to some extent. The leading Danish shipping company Maersk has multiple positions that all include the ability to code Python. The same goes for the music streaming giant Spotify in Sweden, which uses Python for its Platform. If we look at Python in Norway, the Norwegian oil and gas industry leader Equinor also offers positions in a wide range of Python developer roles.

The technology of the future

With the future already being here in automation and artificial intelligence, the demand for back-end programming languages is also increasing. Python is used for many of the automation processes in the biggest companies in the Nordics. It is also used in the development of artificial intelligence. The trend of these technologies are only just kicking off and will impact companies in the Nordics in the years to come.

Python – the most flexible language

So why do the industry leaders use Python as a programming language? At its core, it comes down to the flexibility of the language. Whether you want to program apps, websites or develop new software solutions, Python can help you. Furthermore, it cooperates very quickly with other programming languages on the market, making the transition between languages easier. The ability to connect with other languages is enhanced by the many libraries available in Python, making Python ideal for solving many different tasks.

A great programming language for beginners

While Python has many advantages for big companies, it is also a good starting point for a software development career. The language has the advantage of functions often having very intuitive names, making it easy to understand. Furthermore, as the language has gotten very popular, it is simple to find help for any problem on the web, as other people usually have experienced the same.
