How much do full-stack web developers make?

It’s always nice to earn a good wage, but how much do full-stack web developers make? While there can be many reasons for someone changing careers, one of the motivating factors is often money. Today we look at some of the average full-stack developer salaries that are reported in the UK and Europe.

Average full-stack developer salary

Full-stack developer wages will vary depending on location and experience. We’ve taken a look at what you can expect to earn as a full-stack developer in different locations around the UK at different points in your career and compiled the results below.

London full-stack developer salary

In the UK, CWJobs estimates the average full-stack software developer salary at £62,500. ICT workers, on average, earn more than most industries except the Financial and Insurance sector. Morgan McKinley’s salary calculator for 2022 offers excellent insights into what a full-stack developer with Python can make. They reckon that with 0-3 years experience, a developer can earn between £40,000 and £75,000 in London. 

H2 Junior full-stack developer salary in the UK

Even outside of major cities, junior full-stack developers are well rewarded. According to Technojobs, the average starting salary throughout the whole of the UK is £28,000. Despite being lower than what you would be paid for the same role in London, it’s still a very alluring number as a start point.

Senior full-stack developer salary in the UK

In London, Morgan McKinley reckons they reckon that with 3-5 years experience, full-stack developers will earn between £75,000 and £95,000. Whereas with senior full-stack developers with five years experience, is between £90,000 and £130,000.

What does a junior earn in The Netherlands?

In the Netherlands, according to international recruiters Honeypot.io, the average starting salary for a full-stack developer is circa €41,000. Centraal Planbureau, the Dutch statistics office, tells us that the average wage across the board for the Netherlands is €37,000. This is a real indicator of a boost for coders in that country.

Junior to senior full-stack developer salaries in Ireland

In Ireland, Morgan McKinley’s salary calculator indicates that a full-stack software developer with 0-3 years experience can earn between €45,000 and €50,000. But, of course, with more experience comes more salary, and they reckon that those with 3-5 years experience can earn between €55,000 and €70,000. The Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO) places ICT workers as the highest earners in the country for the first quarter of 2021.

What does a junior full-stack developer earn in Sweden

Finding salary information in Sweden can be difficult. However, two sources indicate that the starting salaries for full-stack software developers are between €30k and €42k

ICT & Software Developer Salaries – $110,000 in the USA

Similarly, USA figures highlight the same trend. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average ICT salary is $110,140.

Other countries – average starting salary for full-stack developers

So, what about other countries? Well, we’ve found software developer salary sources for some countries in Europe and further afield. While data from some countries may seem higher than others, they are all relatively high compared to the average overall salary in each country.

Full-stack software developer salaries in the UK & Europe are reaching these heights because of the massive global ICT skills gap. In October 2020, the World Economic Forum launched its Future of Jobs Report 2020. In it, they highlight that as many as 85 million jobs will be displaced by technology. However, they also estimate that 97 million new roles with a more digital focus will replace them. Among the roles that they see as being in demand includes software developers, data analysts and more.
