For the first time, students who partake in our full-stack programme will be able to choose from one of three specializations after they learn the skills of full-stack web development.
Code Institute is the only online coding bootcamp that offers this, and our students will have the competitive edge to change careers and progress quickly in your new coding profession.
But, why have we chosen to give our students a choice of specializations? Well, one of our goals has always been to help our students change their careers to software development. We’ve done really well at that and we are delighted that 90% of our students are employed within six months of graduating from our programme. Now, we want to increase that percentage to give our students an even greater chance of starting a new career in the world’s most exciting industry.
What specializations and why?
After much research, the Code Institute team focused on ensuring that our students learn what is most in-demand in today’s workforce. This has always been true of our Full Stack programme, but now with the added choice of specializations, our students have an opportunity of even more recognition from employers by completing our university credit-rated programme.
The three areas that we have identified as being most in-demand are:

What is e-Commerce?
Simply put, e-Commerce is the buying or selling of goods and services over the internet. With e-commerce, the entire transaction from purchasing a product to when it leaves the seller or the warehouse is online. With e-Commerce, all money is traded online, as is the collection of data around the transaction.
Is e-Commerce in demand?
There is a massive demand for software developers who possess e-Commerce skills. This is more true now than ever before. For example, in 2020, Amazon employed a further 500,000 employees. In the USA alone, $791 billion was spent online during COVID-19. In Europe, online sales saw a 26% increase compared to the previous year and amounted to a whopping €480 billion.
Companies are now preparing for the future. Even after eradicating COVID-19, the expectation is that both companies and consumers will continue to adapt to online purchasing. For this reason, there is a massive demand for software developers who understand e-Commerce and the technologies that can drive it forward.
What is Predictive Analytics?
Predictive analytics uses a mix of machine learning, statistical algorithms and historical data to predict outcomes. A myriad of companies worldwide uses it to predict risk, assess markets, predict outcomes, and much more.

As so many companies are now using artificial intelligence and collecting data, they are now figuring out how best to use their stored information. As already mentioned, predictive analytics allows companies to use their data to predict future outcomes. Therefore, predictive analytics can increase its bottom line by predicting what will happen based on its collected data.
Predictive analytics is now used in pretty much all industries, which is why these skills are in such huge demand.
What is React.js?
React is a library. A library is something that allows developers to share code they have written that solves everyday problems. React prevents everyone from having to reinvent the wheel every time they knock across the same problem. It also means if someone comes up with a clever way of doing something, they can make it available to everyone else. That is exactly what Facebook did. They wanted to build a richer and more responsive user experience. So they built this super-fast and super-easy library to build great user interfaces and shared it with everyone.
It cuts down development time for everyone, improves quality and means you can do exciting things quickly. As a result, it’s one of the most popular development libraries in the world. Apart from Facebook, it is also used by Instagram, the BBC, The New York Times, Pay Pal, and of course Code Institute!
