Introduction To Software Development

The qualification gives learners a foundation in Software Development. They can progress their skills in a work setting or by transitioning to the Level 5 Diploma in Web Application Development.

Course content covers the fundamental elements of modern software development and provides learners with the framework to develop their skills using practical, project-based methodologies.

Learners will be introduced to the concepts, processes, and tools used to manage IT projects.
JavaScript
Learners will develop an understanding of the world’s most popular coding technology and learn how to build interactive web pages.
Maths for Computing
Learners will gain the fundamental maths skill needed in software development.
Object Oriented Programming
Learners will examine the features, tools and techniques of object-oriented programming and use a structured approach to the design and development of a program.
Programming Implementation
Learners will become familiar with the underpinning concepts of programming and how it is implemented with Python.
Robot Technology
Learners will develop the skills to design and develop a program to control a robot.
Software Testing
Learners will understand the testing stages from planning to acceptance and how automation can be applied to software testing.
Careers Support
On demand careers support will be available to learners to support their pathway into Tech, CV and cover letter preparation.

Certification And Funding

The qualification is awarded by Gateway Qualifications and has been approved by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) which regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and Qualifications Wales, the regulator of non-degree qualifications and the qualifications system in Wales. Full details of funding in England are available from the Education Skills and Funding Agency. The qualification is funded under the Adult Education Budget provision and via the National Skills Fund.

Funding is available to adults in England who earn less than the National Living Wage annually (£18,525) or are unemployed. This is regardless of their prior qualification level. All 19-to-23 year olds in England can access courses for free through their legal entitlement to a first full Level 3 qualification. Entry Requirements

Learners must complete the free 5-day coding challenge and demonstrate the skills and ability to study at level 3. Learners should have a good standard of English and Maths and be over 18 years of age.

Delivery & Assessment

Code Institute provides the Learner Management System, course content, community and tutor support to enable colleges to deliver and learners to succeed.

The qualifications can be delivered 100% online or in a blended format using Code Institute’s platform, content, analytics, community tutoring support seven days a week.

Content has a built-in blended assessment model, including suggested assessment templates and guidance to help colleges more easily evaluate learners.
