Payment Terms for Online Students

Students will only be granted access to the online content once the payment due is received.
Where a student is on a payment plan, failure to make payments in the agreed timeframe will result in the student’s access to the course being withdrawn and, if the full fee is not received, all course fees paid up to that point will be non-transferable and non-refundable. A student will not receive additional time in lieu of any time lost while their course access was suspended due to lack of payment. No project submissions will be accepted while a student’s access to the course is suspended. Where a student does not meet their project deadlines or has to resubmit a failed project, additional assessment fees will be incurred.  The late submission fee is €150 and the resubmission fee is €50. Results may be withheld where there are outstanding fees due.

Different terms apply when students avail of a third party finance option, and the aforementioned terms can be referred to in the student’s individual contract with Code Institute.

Refunds will only be granted in extenuating circumstances such as medical incapacity or bereavement, at the sole discretion of the Finance Manager. Extenuating circumstances refer to unforeseen events which may affect a student’s ability to complete the course. Such circumstances include serious illness &/or hospitalisation, accident, immediate family bereavement or other serious personal circumstances.
Foreseen events such as sporting, cultural or work commitments are not considered extenuating circumstances. Supporting documentation e.g. medical certificate, police statement etc. must be provided. In such circumstances, a deferral may be offered as an alternative. The amount refunded will be in proportion to how far the student has progressed through the course.

Cooling Off Period

Online students are entitled to a cooling-off period of 14 days, which begins on the day that access to the course is granted. If a student decides they do not want to commence the course during this period a refund may be granted. Once the course has been accessed on the Learning Management System (LMS) by a student, this is an indication of use of service and acceptance of the terms and conditions, and as a result, at this point, no refunds will be issued, even within the standard cooling-off period of 14 days. After the cooling-off period no refunds will be issued regardless of whether the LMS has been accessed or not.

Structured Learning

Students must meet the programme schedule requirements. Project submission deadlines or access to the learning material cannot be extended unless there are extenuating circumstances. Supporting documentation will be required.

Please note that the course and all additional learning supports are delivered and assessed entirely in English.

Leave of Absence

Students who need to take a break from their course may do so in extreme circumstances for a maximum period of 3 months initially. Full course fees will need to be remitted before students can apply for a leave of absence and this is at the discretion of Code Institute.

Code Institute reserves the right to refuse tuition fees and reserves the right to deny any applications.
