Learning to code in the Nordics

As a result of COVID-19, many of us now work from home, temporarily laid off, or forced out of work. A lot of people are using this time to upskill for the future workforce. But what skills should you learn? In a word? Programming. Learning to code in the Nordics is essential. Companies are now looking at the future of work, and technology is what keeps the doors open. The problem is, there are not enough developers in Denmark, Sweden, or Norway. 

Learning to code can be challenging, and many people don’t think they can learn it. However, programming is essential for future workforces. Anyone can learn it – provided you give it the time and energy required. While coding demands patience, it is a skill that everyone can learn, and as a bonus, you learn a lot of soft skills in the process.

Coding will teach you how to pick a problem apart and understand complex solutions in a new way. Breaking down an issue into smaller steps can help accelerate the answer and make the project more fun – not only in terms of programming but in all tasks.

When working with complex problems, you learn to be resilient. Coming at the issue from different angles and will sometimes be necessary to nail it. This approach creates a sense of achievement when you are done and makes you work harder to understand what to make of a problem’s different parts.

Programming is a process of learning to learn. Much of the journey is self-reliant, and finding solutions to problems are mostly about trying different things and scouring the web. These skills come in handy when trying to find out solutions for problems in general. 

Learn to code at a bootcamp

Learning to code in the Nordics does not have to be through a three-year degree. Many courses can teach you to code and all the soft skills that come with it, at a much faster pace. One place to go is a coding bootcamp that will teach you how to code in an interval between 4-12 month. A bootcamp is very intensive and will ensure you are ready for a coding journey, whether for a career change or upskill.
